Therapeutic Optometrist
Dr. Kathryn Smith received her Bachelors of Science from Trinity University in San Antonio and her Doctorate of Optometry from University of Houston. Dr. Smith spent her first few years after graduation working with ophthalmologists at practices in San Antonio and in Dallas providing care pre and post operatively for multiple types of eye surgery including LASIK and Cataract surgery. In addition, she has provided eye care from ages as young as 2 months to over 100 and can cover the full spectrum of primary eye care as well as complicated pathologies. Dr. Smith and her ever expanding family has decided to settle down in Austin and is excited to join Dr. Sawhney and the team at Envision Eye Center.

Dr. Norin Ali

Therapeutic Optometrist
Dr. Ali was born and raised in Austin and completed her Bachelors of Science at the University of Texas. She made her first move out of the city to complete her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston, where she graduated summa cum laude and with Beta Sigma Kappa honors. She did her externship at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, where she provided primary eye care, managed complicated ocular pathology, fit specialty contact lenses and conducted pre/post-op care for a diseased indigent population. She spent the rest of her externship at Lakeline Vision Source working with well-versed optometrists. There she practiced full-scope optometry in a large private practice setting. She has also gained a considerable amount of experience managing dry eye disease, which has become a great passion of hers and she's always looking to learn more about it. In her free time, Dr. Ali loves painting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Now that she's back in her hometown, she is excited about joining Envision Eye Center and providing top notch eye care to her patients.

Dr. Julie Phan

Pediatric Optometrist
Dr. Julie Phan, a Texas native, completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelors of Science from Baylor University in Waco. She went to earn her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) located in Boston, Massachusetts. Her interest and love for working with children paved a path for her as an inaugural member of NECO’s Pediatric Concentration program. Dr. Phan completed her externship training at multiple sites including the Pediatric Department at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City (Missouri), the Bedford Veterans Affairs Hospital in the Greater Boston area, and the Dorchester Community Health Center in Boston. After earning her doctorate, Dr. Phan went on to complete a residency in Pediatric Optometry through the New England College of Optometry. Her training as a resident included working with children at sites such as Tuft’s Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Charles River Community Health Center, NECO Center for Eye Care, and Perkins School for the Blind. During her residency, she gained extensive training in managing conditions such as amblyopia, strabismus, ocular pathologies, and refractive error with exposure to emerging myopia control treatments. Additionally, she provided vision screenings for children throughout the Boston area, vision therapy, aphakic specialty contact lens fittings, and specialized eye examinations for patients with developmental delays and/or low vision. Dr. Phan has served on several optometric mission trips abroad in the Dominican Republic and Belize, a passion she plans on continuing to pursue throughout her career. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, exercising, cooking, and loves spending time with her friends and family. As she joins Envision Eye Center, Dr. Phan is excited to serve patients of all ages – with an emphasis on pediatric eye care, ortho-K and myopia control services!

Carolin

Carolin

Office Manager
Carolin is originally from Germany but made Texas her new home in 2011. In 2015, she started her career as an Optician at Envision Eye Center and was able to combine her 6-year retail/fashion experience with the optometry world. Carolin thoroughly enjoys helping patients select unique frames, recommends the best lens combinations to suit their daily needs and manages the flow of the office. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, dancing, outdoor activities and traveling the world with her partner.

Originally from Houston, Callie moved to Austin after going to school in Charleston, SC. This is her first job in the optical field, and she has been enjoying helping people with their eye care needs. Prior to her job at Envision, she had a varied work background, including a job at a cat boarding facility. She loves cats! Outside of work, Callie enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with friends and family.

Christina is a native Texan who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Textiles and Apparel from the University of Texas at Austin. Christina fell in love with customer service and worked as a retail manager at various boutiques and big box stores throughout Austin for twenty years. Always looking to expand her professional horizons, Christina decided to make a career change and found a burgeoning passion for optometry and patient care. As lead technician, Christina is devoted to creating exceptional patient experiences while also assisting with specialty contact lenses, pediatrics and myopia management. When not at work, Christina enjoys thrifting, baking and spending time with her family and dog.

Dr. Dimple Sawhney

Dr. Dimple Sawhney is a proud Longhorn with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas and her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston. She completed her externships at Quantico Naval Hospital in Quantico, VA and Mann Eye Institute in Houston, TX, After graduation from optometry school, she moved to Manhattan where she worked in a fast paced prestigious medical and surgical eye care practice, which included LASIK and cataract surgery. There she served as the clinical coordinator and sub-investigator for an FDA clinical trial for cross-linking for keratoconus patients and a sub-investigator for the Visian lens FDA clinical trial. Dr. Sawhney is excited to be back in Austin with her two adorable dogs, husband and son and to start a new practice in the beautiful Mueller neighborhood. She is passionate about providing her patients with the most thorough eye care and addressing all of their vision and eye concerns.
