Dr. Julie Phan, a Texas native, completed her undergraduate studies with a Bachelors of Science from Baylor University in Waco. She went to earn her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) located in Boston, Massachusetts. Her interest and love for working with children paved a path for her as an inaugural member of NECO’s Pediatric Concentration program.
Dr. Phan completed her externship training at multiple sites including the Pediatric Department at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City (Missouri), the Bedford Veterans Affairs Hospital in the Greater Boston area, and the Dorchester Community Health Center in Boston.
After earning her doctorate, Dr. Phan went on to complete a residency in Pediatric Optometry through the New England College of Optometry. Her training as a resident included working with children at sites such as Tuft’s Children’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, Charles River Community Health Center, NECO Center for Eye Care, and Perkins School for the Blind. During her residency, she gained extensive training in managing conditions such as amblyopia, strabismus, ocular pathologies, and refractive error with exposure to emerging myopia control treatments. Additionally, she provided vision screenings for children throughout the Boston area, vision therapy, aphakic specialty contact lens fittings, and specialized eye examinations for patients with developmental delays and/or low vision.
Dr. Phan has served on several optometric mission trips abroad in the Dominican Republic and Belize, a passion she plans on continuing to pursue throughout her career. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, exercising, cooking, and loves spending time with her friends and family.
As she joins Envision Eye Center, Dr. Phan is excited to serve patients of all ages – with an emphasis on pediatric eye care, ortho-K and myopia control services!
